AbbVie Pharmaceuticals Screening

May 19, 2012

On May 19th, the Asian Leadership Network (ALN) Culture team at AbbVie Pharmaceuticals presented a screening of Stranger/Sister as part of the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month celebrations, followed by a roundtable discussion facilitated by Anthony Omlor, ALN Culture Team Co-Chair, and employee and Sisterhood of Salaam Shalom member, Lis Rakanovic. Fern Finkel, Sisterhood of Salaam Shalom’s Board of Trustees, also attended as part of the panel. 202 employees participated and there was an outpouring of support as well as recognition to the inspiring messages of peace and tolerance in the film. Many employees shared that they were very moved by the film and felt inspired to spread awareness of the work of the Sisterhood of Salaam Shalom. In July, the AbbVie EED&I team showcased the film on AbbVie Mobile News (an internal site for employees) with tagline of “Belonging@AbbVie”, as a resource to promote awareness, understanding and to drive compassion. ALN Co-Chair Lis Rakanovic has also been awarded with the AbbVie Outstanding Impact Award for leadership. AbbVie Pharmaceuticals will continue working with Stranger/Sister and the film’s impact campaign to promote cultural awareness and understanding within their organization.
