I launched my fellowship by hosting an interfaith halal meal and inviting a large portion of my community into my home in an act of hospitality learned at Rose Castle.
In the beautiful Lake district of England at the newly remodeled Rose Castle, 14 Odyssey fellows, 3 advisors, the Director of the Odyssey Fellows program, and the staff of the Rose Castle Foundation gathered for a week of community building, hospitality, and training.
Odyssey Fellow, Staci Plonsky, coordinated a special screening of Healing the Healers: Domestic Violence in Brevard County, Florida to gather for the first time faith leaders, DV advocates, survivors, and local law enforcement to discuss how to cooperatively respond to domestic violence in Brevard County. Together, the group talked about the complex issues that emerge when a faith leader learns of abuse within a family in a congregation. What are “do’s” and “don’t’s” for clergy on this issue? Who do clergy call when they’re unsure?
