Ernst & Young Screening

July 20, 2021

On July 20th, 2021 Ernst & Young (EY), hosted a panel discussion around Descended from The Promised Land: The Legacy of Black Wall Street. The event was part of programming by EY’s BPN (Black Professionals Network). Nailah Jefferson, Director of the film, and Byron Crenshaw, featured in the film, were panelists, as was Kesha Cash, a General Partner at Impact America Fund. The event was very robust and featured personal reflections from EY leadership, as well as a presense from leadership in EY’s Tulsa office. The conversation started with the film and then pivoted to the following topics: Closing the wealth gap in the Black community; Impact of entrepreneurs and business growth on the development of community; Areas to invest within a community that have the highest impact; What could have been if Black Wall Street continued forward without interference; What lessons can we all learn to create change? The feedback following the event was stellar. 920 E&Y employees attend the event, and they are interested in working with us regarding 2022 initiatives, including Black History Month programming for February, 2022.
