Eleven years later, there are more than 150 chapters with over 3,000 Muslim and Jewish women joining local chapters in the United States, Canada and European cities to take part in the movement.

The InterFaith Leadership Council of Metropolitan Detroit will host an event on Monday, Aug. 23, featuring the 40-minute documentary “Stranger/Sister,” which tells the story of how the Sisterhood of Salaam Shalom came about.

The event will be 7-9 p.m. via Zoom and is co-sponsored by the Metro Detroit chapter of the Sisterhood of Salaam Shalom and Women’s Interfaith Solutions for Dialogue and Outreach in Metro Detroit (WISDOM). Following the film, there will be an open discussion with co-chairwomen of the Metro Detroit chapter, Sharona Shapiro and Shabana Mohamed.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”60px”][vc_row_inner row_type=”row” type=”full_width” text_align=”left” css_animation=””][vc_column_inner][ult_createlink title=”CONTINUE READING” btn_link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Fwww.theoaklandpress.com%2F2021%2F08%2F20%2Fwomens-diversity-group-shows-film-to-eliminate-stereotypes%2F|target:_blank” link_hover_style=”Style_11″ text_color=”#ffffff” text_hovercolor=”#ffffff” background_color=”#f57c50″ bghovercolor=”#784c8e″ el_class=”nav-button” heading_style=”font-weight:bold;” css=”.vc_custom_1629933834735{padding-top: 10px !important;padding-right: 10px !important;padding-bottom: 10px !important;padding-left: 10px !important;}”][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row]
